Timber Owners Association
A Strong Arm To Safely Maximize Profits Thru Strength In Numbers
Mission Statement: To eliminate the uncertainty that accompanies selling standing timber and to provide timber owners with protection, comfort, and a safe and profitable way to market their forest products. A system with full disclosure and no secrets!
What it's not:
- Timber Owners Association, LLC* is not a co-op. Members maintain complete control and are able to access selling power through association with other member owners. Selling remains 100% the member's decision when offers come in from buyers or they decide to offer a tract for sale publicly.
- The staff of the Timber Owners Association (TOA) do not buy timber but are advocates of TOA members who desire representation, management, and analysis. Carolina Timber Consulting, Inc., owns and controls the Timber Owners Association, LLC., but has no right to sell member's standing timber without written authorization.
What it is:
- TOA is a group of private timber owners that have chosen to come together to increase their selling power through inventory volumes. There is no fee for joining; the only obligation to belong and enjoy the benefits of membership will be if and when a member chooses to sell timber, the sale will be managed by the staff of TOA.
- The consulting firm is a for-profit corporation set up on an incentive-based revenue scale and provides expert help in every area of the timber industry. No hidden charges; members will have clarity of all charges before making any decisions about selling timber or ordering services.
How it works:
- Each member's tracts will be analyzed and inserted into the large database. The massive, combined inventory will ensure attracting buyers who desire specific forest products. Buyers will approach TOA staff who then will issue the offer to the members who own the products the buyer is pursuing. The staff will advise when a member chooses to consider the offer; acceptance by a member will be on a first come, first served basis.
- Forest product buyers such as papermills, sawmills, timber dealers, or loggers will go through the marketing experts of the consulting firm. The buyer is now dealing with an expert, who becomes the face of the timber owner.
- If a member decides to sell of their own volition, the consulting firm will have the exclusive right to handle the sale. In this case, the consultants will visit the subject tract for deeper analyzation and will offer (at no charge) advice on the best marketing approach. However, the member will always make the final decision unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- If a timber owner is currently working with another consulting firm, they are welcome to become a member and have their timber included in our database. Just have the consultant contact us for details of how this works.
Understanding it:
Below is an example that we hope helps to see what this is all about:
When we look at a steer, we see "a cow!" But if you ask a skilled, trained butcher he will see NY strips, T Bones, filet mignon, sirloin, and many other valuable products. If you asked us to butcher it you would get a whole lot of hamburgers! But if you asked that butcher to walk through your beautiful forest and tell you the products he sees, he would probably say he only sees "trees"!
Managing your own timber is not a small thing; it is serious business and unfortunately over the years we have seen landowners get paid for mostly hamburger and lose the revenue they should have gained by expert oversight. The members of TOA will have the awesome advantage of market experts on their side of the table. We market and monitor your harvest EXACTLY the way we harvest and market our own. Just ask our current clients.
